Teamwork Works!   In 1986, following a series of survey trips, the Rudolph and Blackwell families formed a church planting team in Cape Town. An intensive survey was done in the twin cities of Durbanville and Bellville on the north side of Cape Town followed by a preliminary strategy, written by the newly formed ABWE Cape Field Council. Missionary church planting couples were recruited to join our team and over the next 15 years more than a dozen families came to the Cape. In the early 1990’s, the Cape Field Council voted to move all of their church planting strategy to a newly formed Cape Leadership Team which was not affiliated to any USA mission agency.
 
The new team included South African national leaders and missionaries from several fundamental agencies.  Besides the more than 15 churches that have been planted by this effective broad-based team strategy, new support ministries (see the menu bar at the top of this page) such as the Vision in Action foundation, the Church Ministries Institute, the Paardeberg Mountain Retreat, and the Good Hope Christian School emerged as important aids to our overall church planting strategy. 
 
In 2001 the Cape Leadership Team voted to create smaller church planting teams to more effectively multiply our church planting efforts in the burgeoning metropolitan city of Cape Town. The result has been the formation of numerous teams, some under the banner of ABWE, another with Evangelical Baptist Missions, and our own independent Cape Team.   Our Cape Team  is comprised of full-time and part-time missionary church planters, South African pastors and their families, and local church leaders. We enjoy an ongoing working relationship with all of the other church planting teams—we especially share a mutual interest in all of the support ministries listed above. Our Vision is to reach the Western Cape, now including the Southern Cape (Garden Route) with the Gospel message, one piece at a time!
